And From The Left We Have
A Little From Mike Our Chairman
At the beginning of February 2007 I bought my first telescope, although I first took an interest in astronomy about fifty years ago when the sky at night first began on BBC1. Most of my sky watching was viewing mainly on my own, I am sure there were many other people doing the same thing.I realised that there was the Coventry and Warwick Astronomical Society, but I felt that it was too far with the traffic and time restraints, so I decided to put the feelers out regarding setting up an astronomical society here in Rugby.
I placed a small article in the Rugby Advertiser and the response was better that I could have hoped for, so after three months we are now up and running with a core interest of thirty five to forty people interested. We held our first inaugural meeting some eight weeks ago where a committee was formed comprising of six people, these being Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary , Website Co-ordinator and Newsletter Overseer.
I would like to thank personally Mark Winward, Julian Leckie and Rob Sime who are my co-founders, we four appeared in the entertainment section of the Rugby Advertiser on Thursday the 15th February 2007.
I would also like to thank Alison Goodman our Website Coordinator, Liz Calderwood our Membership Secretary, Gordon Allan our Newsletter Overseer.I would like to thank Coventry and Warwick Astronomical Society for all their help and support, Geffery Johnson, Mike Frost, Chris Longthorne and Rugby School for all their support.
